In September 2008, my first year at Mount Allison University, I received an e-mail from the University asking if anybody would like to author a blog about the school. I applied with my draft first post and was accepted. Over the past four years I was given free reign to write what I wanted and to date have written 450 posts about nearly everything Mount Allison University-related, only some of them explicitly promoting the school. Over time the blog grew in popularity and now has nearly 100,000 pageviews (consider the student population of around 2,500) and has over 60 regular readers.
As prospective students and parents began messaging me about the school I responded honestly about life here.
Over time I added a six-part photo essay on life here (part one, two, three, four, five, and six).
I also, on my on volition, added a number of videos to the blog to give a better idea of life here. I bugged my friends and others into talking about Mount Allison on camera. The production quality could at best be described as amateur but I think the content is worth sharing. Here’s a couple of the videos.
